I just had my 3rd baby and I was dreading the sore nipples that come with breastfeeding. With both of my other 2 children I used lanolin based nipple creams but couldn't stand the stickiness and the gooey feeling. I also don't think it ever worked very well for me. I was still always sore even though my babies had correct latch on. This time I tried Nipple Butter (I was able to get it at my local Target). WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I started using it in the hospital. That is when the sore nipples started w/ my prior kids. I only used a teeny tiny bit and I noticed I never got sore nipples during my stay. I can't say that I NEVER had sore nipples within that 1st week but as soon as they started to get sore I used a small bit after feeding and also in between feedings and the soreness went away usually by the next feeding. I also did not like lanolin for the stickiness and thought what a great alternative the First Years Nipple Butter was! However for me it has been a total disaster as I have developed awful allergic reaction and am in agony.
I called lacatation specialist out today in tears thinking it was a feeding issue and she diagnosed it. I am not allergic to any nuts, so I had not considered it would have any problems. shea butter and almond oil are ingredients and that has been my trigger for the nasty reaction. She said she has seen an increasing number of allergic reactions to alternative creams from this one to mustela as well. SO... take it into consideration when purchasing. I may of course be a random uncommon reaction, but I felt I had to send up a red flag on my experience too, as I would not want anyone to experience this result.

This product contains almond oil. So if you or anyone in your family has a history of severe nut allergies, you may want to skip it and go with Lansinoh instead.

A reaction is probably unlikely, but why take chances with your baby? (I wish that the product ingredients were listed somewhere on the Amazon page... that would be helpful.)

However, if you really want a plant-based alternative to Lansinoh, you might consider the nipple cream by Motherlove. It contains olive oil and beeswax instead. Motherlove Herbal Nipple Cream (1 oz)

I don't understand the bad reviews here... if you need this, you'll know it. And it does work. This is only for allergies, if your child doesn't actually need it, you're obviously better served with more tradition formulas (and breast milk :)

First try the regular nutrimigen or other hypoallergenic forumulas, then this. We went down the progression and actually saw the symptoms go away. Less random crying and then skin cleared up. It takes some time for it to work just because the allergens in the body from other formulas (or from breastmilk if the mother is eating something child is allergic to) take time to go away. For dairy allergies it can be up to a couple weeks, so really give it some time to work if you think this might be the issue.

We did this without recommendation from a doctor, keep in mind that some cases may be beyond the specific expertise of the doctor and you need to do your own troubleshooting to keep your child happy and healthy. We also got... Read more

The formula was delivered within a reasonable amount of time but there was more than the reported address cut out from the formula container. The containiers were torn and looked as if a child had gotten a hold of a pen and scribbled all over the containers as well as the lids. Was very inexpensive compared to most sites and I got what I paid for.

I loved using the ready to feed formulas especially this one as you can attach a nipple and go. I never purchased this particular item because the hospital gave me a case at discharge. I was stunned when I saw the price of these 2oz nursettes. I think it's outrageous to charge this amount for a formula that is expensive already. I did some research and found 6oz glass nursettes on Enfamil's site for $60 a case. This was my best decision. With discounts, I wound up paying $50 a case with free delivery. Yes, they are more expensive than powder but not by much. Besides, I feel that you can't put a price on convenience and child safety. You can also put a nipple right on the glass nursettes as well, an added bonus.
If you chose to use Ready to Feed as I did, buy the 6oz nursettes. Although the glass nursettes will make your recycling heavier, they are definitely more cost effective than the 2oz bottles.

This is a great product for traveling with newborns who need Nutramigen (go to the Enfamil website for product info and customer reviews). But don't bother buying it here. Buy from RiteAid online and the same product is $10 with free shipping over $25 and ships in 3-5 business days... rather than weeks here.
